Windows 7 WHOPPER!

Burger King's limited-time offer in Japan. The new seven-patty burger weighs 1.4 pounds and packs 2,120 calories.

Microsoft, based in Redmond, Wash., approached Burger King's Japan unit to explore a tie-in that would coincide with the Windows 7 release. The idea was to reach out to a non-techie audience that might not be aware that Microsoft had revamped its operating software, Microsoft spokesman Masaki Iida says. For Burger King, which reopened in Japan in mid-2007 after a temporary pullout, this was a chance to piggyback on Microsoft's brand. The fast-food chain says the special Whopper is the biggest burger it has ever marketed. Neither company would reveal the cost of the campaign.

SELLING LIKE HOT CAKES?

Nonetheless, sales have been strong. Burger King sells the first 30 burgers at every store in Japan for 777 yen ($8.45); after that, the price jumps to 1,450 yen ($15.75). In just the first two days of the promotion, the company's stores sold 1,700 burgers. Two days later, the count reached 6,000. (The majority of customers were paying the higher price.) For several days at a Tokyo shop, the Windows 7 Whopper accounted for one in every three orders.

Vidic, and now Rio, have no answer to Torres' superb speed! Well deserved victory for Liverpool. United have some serious thinking to do. We're simply not good enough.

CSKA Moscow 0 Manchester United 1

Moscow will always hold happy memories for Manchester United, although it is doubtful that anyone will remember much about this match a year from now.

The merest mention of that heady night in the Russian capital 17 months ago, when United lifted the European Cup after beating Chelsea on penalties, brings a plethora of recollections flooding back, but it was hard to think of an incident of significance at the Luzhniki Stadium last night other than Antonio Valencia’s winning goal four minutes from time.

Not that that will bother Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager. With the visit to Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday looming large over this tie, his team came to do a job and they did it with the minimum of fuss, a thoroughly professional display securing victory against a modest CSKA Moscow side.

Nice.

Green Life Design 1st Price...

The thermodynamic cooler is a transfer and optimization of basic technology mainly used in emerging countries to the high-tech kitchen. Food gets preserved by the cooling effect of evaporating water using no electricity.

The system is designed to be stackable, can be used as an alternative for a pantry, second fridge or an advanced fruit bowl. The design could help to reduce domestic energy consumption without radically compromising comfort. The cooler consists of two pots, one placed inside the other.

The space between the two pots is filled with wet glass-foam, a waste product of the glass recycling process. I used this material instead of sand in the original version because it soaks in the water quicker and let the whole container become much lighter. The smaller inner clay pot, is covered with a damp cloth that is stretched over the lid.

The water contained in the glass-foam between the two pots start to evaporate. By virtue of the laws of thermodynamics, the evaporation process automatically causes a drop in temperature of several degrees, cooling the inner clay pot, destroying harmful micro-organisms and preserving the perishable foods inside.

To keep the cooling process active water needs to be added every couple of days, a green indicator highlights this for the user. A full working prototype was realized, by working with professors of physics, using recyclable materials such as glass foam, clay and bio-plastics.

United Top the League

This is why Park JS is out of the side...

Oh! No!!

United took advantage of Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa earlier yesterday by racing into a 2-0 lead against Bolton within 25 minutes, with a Zat Knight own goal and Antonio Valencia's first for the club since signing from Wigan. They took the points despite a 75th minute consolation header from Matt Taylor.

Redwoods, the giant trees!

The Super Trees

They can grow to be the tallest trees on Earth. They can produce lumber, support jobs, safeguard clear waters, and provide refuge for countless forest species. If we let them.

Sunderland nightmare at Old Trafford

We just praised Paul Scholes last week, and all of the sudden, his performance against Sunderland was a laughing joke. In fact, the whole team didn't perform well at all. United were lucky to get a draw against Sunderland!

Let's face it, Ben Foster is not going to be a top goalkeeper, United should get rid of him as soon as possible.
