What can you see with Google Earth?

Ever wonder what you can find and see with Google Earth? Here are some interesting stuff...

The Davis-Monthan Air Force Base outside of Tuscon, Ariz., is where old planes go to die. More than 4,000 military aircraft are parked on the base, from B-52s to stealth bombers, where they are salvaged for parts and broken down for scrap. It's one of the most popular satellite pictures online, making guided tours of the area are a hot ticket. Here.

The SS Jassim, a Bolivian cargo ferry, ran aground and sunk on the Wingate Reef off the coast of Sudan in 2003. Now it's one of the largest shipwrecks visible on Google Earth. Here.

Maybe alien technology isn't so foreign after all. This Firefox crop circle sprouted up in a corn field in Oregon, but its origins are no mystery. In 2006, the Oregon State University Linux Users group created the giant logo — spanning more than 45,000 square feet — to celebrate the Web browser's 50 millionth download. Here it is!

United held in Milan

t

i

United were held in Milan last night. We have enough chances to win it but we didn't take our chances... hopefully we can kill off Inter in Manchester.

Barcelona managed to get a draw with Henry's equalizer...

My Man Utd XL

Again, I won't pick those players I don't get to watch them play. I only starting watching in the 80s.

Nobody plays better than Schmeichel in goal for United ever since I watched them. Bailey was good, then nobody else was good enough until Schmeichel came. After big Dane was gone, we have to wait for a long time until Van Der Sar arrived. But by then, we have a very solid defencein front of him to protect him. Bruce and Pallister were good partnership, but I think Rio Ferninand and Vidic beat them without a doubt.

I always think Jaap Stam is rock solid and hard as nail, so I have to include him. I never think Bruce is solid enough, but Pallister makes the cut, so he is in the reserve ahead of Paul McGrath.

Gary Neville never cut it for me to be a very good right back, so I am putting Rio there. We have Vidic and Stam in the middle, and the ever reliable Dennis Irwin on the left back position. Evra could have been there but I think Irwin has got more medals, at least for now, so he is there in the starting XL.

Most United fans would pick Giggs and Cantona in the midfield, so am I. There is not much explaination here because they are the legends.

I pick Robson ahead of Scholes and Keane (both are in my reserve) purely for the fact that he was my hero when I started to follow United. He wouldn't let the team down for sure and he always run himself into the ground for United. I would love to include Scholes in my XL, but then again, Ronaldo is picked purely because he is the first United player to be named the Best in the World. You can't argue about his ability and skill. Some people have doubt on his loyalty though.

Carrick is in the reserve for his ball passing ability. Nobody comes close to him, not even Neil Webb or Gordon Strachan. Of course, Beckham is in the reserve too for his free kicks!

Ruud Van Nistelrooy holds the best goal scoring ratio and he is far ahead of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke. Sparky is in my reserve for his spectacular finishing in front of goals and his ability to hold on to the ball. And then the super sub, Ole Gunner Solskjaer, is picked ahead of Frank Steplaton and Terry Sheringham. Wayne Rooney makes the XL purely for his ability. Maybe I watched him too often compared to other strikers!

Anyway, my XL would probably win the lots too. I think.

My XL

I have been watching football since 1980s, I remember a little bit watching Mario Kempes scoring for Argentina in the 1978 World Cup final, but at that time, I was just too small. I beginning to watch football during the 1982 World Cup. During that time, we get Germany League on TV, slowly follow by English First Division footballs. That was when I beginning to follow Manchester United.

I always wanted to know if I get to pick a football team, who would make it to my XL. I won’t pick those I don’t get to watch when I was too small. So players like Frank Backenbauer, George Best, Bobby Charlton, Gerd Muller or Pele are not in my XL, even though I have read great deals about them telling me how good they were, but I cannot tell by looking at 5 minutes footages of them in action. I am picking players whom I have seen in live football matches, not just World Cups, but when they are playing for their clubs and countries. Here are my best XL and the substitutes.

Peter Schmeichel – The way he makes himself big during 1-on-1 situation with strikers mean he has high success rate! He is a world class goalkeeper, guiding Man Utd and Denmark to various glories.

Cafu – The best right back during his time. I love to see Cafu playing, he is always playing with a smile. Fair, smart and full of flair.

Ronald Koeman – Takes exceptional free kicks! Koeman is rock solid in his tackling and a true leader.

Franco Baresi – The man behind AC Milan’s domination during the 80s. Baresi is a legend, has great distribution skills and read games very well. He isn’t the fastest but his positioning sense is world class. A great leader too. He will be my captain.

Paolo Maldini – The best left back I have seen. He runs the left flank of the field when he was young, and still going strong at the older age. Maldini is world class.

Lothar Matthaus – Need someone to tackle and win the ball in this creative midfield. Matthaus has that ability, plus he is one stunning midfielder.

Diego Maradona – Need I say more? Remember Mexico 86 and his Napoli days?

Zinedine Zidane – Wizard in the middle of the field. This team will score plenty of goals for sure. Pure class.

Ryan Giggs – Never play in the World Cup, but he has won all the major competitions at club level. I need someone who can run at the wings, Giggs is the best there is.

Marco Van Basten – He will convert 90% of the chances in a game! Excellent temperament and process silky skill, he is lighting quick too.

Lionel Messi – He still has a lot of prove, but I am including him in anyway. I am sure you know why.

Sub

Gianluigi Buffon – Another world class goalkeeper.

Jorginho – I have seen him running the right flank for Brazil in the world cup. He is the ideal replacement should Cafu is not available.

Frank Rijkaard – One of the 3 Dutch Trios that made AC Milan great! He is superb in winning the ball and very strong in the air.

Lilian Thuram – The reason for France’s success in the 90s. Superb defender.

Kaka – Speed, skill, and very modest world class midfielder. He belongs to Jesus!

Ruud Gullit – Explosive runs, great shooting, and a true leader. He will run your midfield. I would like to include Zico or Falcao here, but I think Gullit deserves his place.

Michael Laudrup – One of the most exciting players I have seen. I just love to see him running with the ball and do tricks. He adds flair to the team. C.Ronaldo would has been here if not for him. I think Laudrup edges him a little bit. Then again, there is also Luis Figo and Dennis Bergkamp to consider.

Michael Platini – France’s captain fantasy. Take great free kicks… but Maradona, Zidane and even Koeman will probably not letting him taking them! Early 80s' best midfielder.

Ronaldo (Brazilian) – He was the best striker in the world at his best. Too bad the injuries were getting to him. But I pick him for his forms when he was dominating the world football!

Raul Gonzalez - Leading goal scorer in European Champions League and break Real Madrid's club scoring record. He is superb finisher and lethal inside the box. Romario is another great striker that I have to leave out.

Of course, Sir Alex is my manager to manage this team. He is the best out there, no doubt about it.

*I am a Manchester United fan, but I have to leave C.Ronaldo, Bryan Robson, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane out.

Creative Ads...

An advertisement by Jung von Matt/Alster for watchmaker IWC. Bus straps have been fashioned from images of IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch to allow bus travellers near the airport to try before they buy at Berlin, Germany.

Life-size stickers of people were stuck on automatic sliding doors at a mall in Mumbai, India. When someone approaches the doors move apart and it feels like the people on the door are moving away. The person enters to find the message ‘People Move Away When You Have Body Odour’.

Life size images were stuck on glass doors at shops, airports in South Africa for the advertisement of glass and window cleaner I.C.U. The expression on the face is priceless.

Another creative idea by The Fitness Company. Heavy Weights were placed at various subways in New York City which creates an illusion that the person holding the safety bar is doing weights.

This is a creative ad by Mini Cooper placed at the Zurich, Switzerland train station. It gives the perception that the Mini Cooper has a large space.

A very cost-effective advertisement in Hong Kong for a yoga school. It showcases the prowess of a yoga practitioner on the flexible stems of drink straws. A surge of enquiries and enrollment went after up this promotional stunt.

Paul Scholes sets the Manchester United party rolling

This victory took United five points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table — a lead that they will be expected to have extended to eight by the time the Merseyside club take on Manchester City on Sunday afternoon — and, to judge from the way that they dominated Fulham last night, with goals from Paul Scholes, Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney, on his return from injury, anyone waiting for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team to stumble may be in for a long wait.

Van der Sar’s record-breaking run, which stands at 1,302 minutes without conceding a league goal, has earned him the long-awaited acclaim of the Stretford End, who have begun to chant his name with some regularity, but, after this match against one of his former clubs, he would readily admit that he has barely had a save to make along the way.

After a series of recent masterclasses from Ryan Giggs, it fell to Scholes to claim the plaudits. The former England midfield player is a fading force, as can be gleaned from him tending to start matches against lower-class opponents only these days, but, against a Fulham team who gave him all the time and space he needs to weave his magic, he was majestic. He even scored the opening goal, his first of the season, with a well-struck volley, although it might not be an exaggeration to borrow Schmeichel’s phrase and suggest that a dustbin would have done a better job than Mark Schwarzer in trying to keep it out.

Ryan Giggs takes Manchester United back to the top

At the end, as the final whistle was blown, four West Ham United players flocked towards Ryan Giggs, all of them asking whether they could have the shirt off his back. It was like seeing a Western tourist being pestered on a beach in Koh Samui, but, charming to the last, Giggs offered an apologetic smile and a handshake and continued on his way, accepting an embrace from Paul Scholes and, finally, the adulation of the celebrating Manchester United supporters.

This was just another ordinary afternoon in the extraordinary life of Giggs, an occasion that will barely merit a footnote when the time comes to reflect on the career of the most decorated player in English football history. But, at the venerable age of 35, in the autumn of his football life, his every contribution is to be savoured. The second-half goal that sent United back to the top of the Barclays Premier League was merely a minor classic — a couple of delightful body swerves and a right-foot shot that deceived Robert Green — but, in the wider context, coming on his 786th appearance for the club as he approaches the 18th anniversary of his first-team debut, it seemed to carry an additional symbolism.

A generation of West Ham supporters have witnessed Giggs playing at Upton Park, going back to his first visit as a skinny teenager in April 1992 in the fateful week when United blew their chance of a first league title in a quarter of a century.

Since then, Giggs has won the Premier League no fewer than ten times and, never one to rest on his laurels, has set his heart on winning an eleventh, as he showed yet again yesterday with a performance that disproved any lingering doubts that people may have about whether he owes his place in the team to Sir Alex Ferguson’s underestimated sentimental streak.

It was not just the goal. It was the intelligence, the workrate, the willingness to run the extra mile. These qualities were why Ferguson selected him in an unfamiliar role on the right wing, in order to give young Rafael Da Silva the kind of protection that Cristiano Ronaldo, even with the best intentions, could never provide.

Giggs sinks West Ham!

GIANFRANCO ZOLA last night hailed Manchester United as the Unstoppables.

Ryan Giggs fired United back on top of the Premier League, two points clear of Liverpool, and the champions are now 5-1 ON with the bookies to retain their title.

Impressed West Ham boss Zola said: “They have everything. We have been beaten by probably the best team in the world.

Edwin van der Sar never looked in serious danger of being denied a British record for not conceding a goal that now extends to 1,212 minutes.

Manchester United breaks record!

EDWIN VAN DER SAR beat Death and Cristiano Ronaldo hammered a nail in Manchester United's title-rivals' coffins as the Red Devils leapt five points clear.

The Dutch stopper has now not conceded a goal for 1,122 minutes - breaking the 20-year league record of Reading's Steve Death.

And Ronaldo's first-half penalty made sure United picked up another maximum return, which Alex Ferguson stressed at the outset was his top priority
