Gary Neville: 599 and Going

Ferguson confirmed that club captain Gary Neville will no longer skipper the team on match days, leaving that honour to Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand.

Vidic captained the side at Everton in Ferdinand's absence and one of the two will do so on Tuesday night as the latter returns from a knee injury. The United manager said: 'If Gary was available all the time he would be the captain. But I have to look at the overall picture.

'With all due respect to Gary's time at United, he knows we don't play him every week. I am looking for someone who is going to play every week as part of the criteria to be captain.

Gary is still going strong and looking forward to register his 600th game for United. Amazing player.
